چکیده

Different colloidal particle characterization methods are examined for their suitability to determine the size distribution of particles extracted from steels. Microalloyed steels dissolved extract niobium and titanium carbonitride that important mechanical properties these Such have sizes ranging several nanometers hundreds depending on precipitation stage during thermomechanically controlled rolling process. The is analyzed by dynamic light scattering (DLS), analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC), hollow fiber flow field-flow fractionation (HF5) compared data obtained reference as well electron microscopy, standard sizing technique used in metallurgy today. AUC HF5 provide high-quality distributions, average over large numbers enables statistical analysis, yield useful insights alloy design; however, DLS fails due a lack resolution. Important aspects conversion comparison distributions broadly distributed systems with different measurement principles role surfactants sample preparation discussed.

Equilibrium Model of Precipitation in Microalloyed Steels

The formation of precipitates during thermal processing of microalloyed steels greatly influences their mechanical properties. Precipitation behavior varies with steel composition and temperature history and can lead to beneficial grain refinement or detrimental transverse surface cracks. This work presents an efficient computational model of equilibrium precipitation of oxides, sulfides, nitri...

Particle-Size-Grouping Model of Precipitation Kinetics in Microalloyed Steels

The formation, growth, and size distribution of precipitates greatly affects the microstructure and properties of microalloyed steels. The computational Particle-Size-Grouping (PSG) kinetic models were developed to simulate precipitate particle growth due to collision and diffusion mechanisms. Firstly, the standard PSG method for collision is clearly explained and verified. Then a new PSG metho...

Microrheology from rotational diffusion of colloidal particles.

The microrheology of viscoelastic fluids is obtained from rotational diffusion of optically anisotropic spherical colloidal probes, measured by depolarized dynamic light scattering. The storage and loss moduli obtained from the rotational mean squared displacement is in excellent agreement with those obtained from translational diffusion and by mechanical measurements. We also show that this me...

Effects of tungsten on the hydrogen embrittlement behaviour of microalloyed steels

The effects of tungsten (W) additions (0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 wt.%) on the hydrogen embrittlement behaviour of microalloyed steels were systematically investigated by means of slow strain rate tests on circumferentially notched cylindrical specimens, and the mechanism of hydrogen-induced embrittlement was discussed. W addition is found to increase the activation energy of hydrogen desorption. Micros...
